During the week we support the following activities:
Prayer Times every Monday from 9.30am – 10.00am we meet to hold our world, the Church and people we know before God. This is usually done in silence and in stillness, a bit like a Quaker meeting. On Wednesday mornings at 9.00am, on the second and fourth Wednesdays we meet with friends from our SNPC churches and say morning prayers with bible readings (the first, third and fifth Wednesdays are at St Benedict’s West Hunsbury)
Breakfast Club on alternate Sundays 9.30am – 10.30am is an outreach to encourage friendship and connections with those who live more locally
Lunch Club for the elderly every Monday provides a two course hot lunch as well as space just for the elderly to get together and chat
Youth Zone for younger teenagers meets every Friday evening in the Youth and Community Hall at 7.00pm for youth activities largely based round sports
Kaleidoscope our children’s church, for younger children meets during the morning service. Often just at the back of the worship space and sometimes in the Abbey Centre itself
Babies and Tots group meets most Wednesdays in the Youth and Community Hall offering space for parents and carers to come with their little ones and meet others in a warm and welcoming environment
Well-Being recognising the importance of mental health in the wider community we open the chapel on a Friday afternoon from 2.00pm – 4.00pm. The first Friday is ‘Singing for Well-being’, the second is ‘Relaxation & Meditation’, the third a Well-being cafe space, and the fourth is an informal conversation time focusing on reminiscence and nostalgia for those with memory loss.
Bible Study Most Sunday evenings from 6.00pm – 7.30pm we hold a bible study. This is usually held at someone’s home address. The aim of this study session is to provide space for discussion and reflection on the stories and messages from the bible and to explore how these can have meaning for us in our lives today.
