ABBEY CENTRE BAPTIST CHURCH

Did you know The Abbey Centre is used for worship?

Every Sunday morning from 10.45 until about 12 about a hundred people gather together in The Abbey Centre. They come to sing, to share thoughts and prayers, to re-affirm the value of every human being in God's sight, to seek for spiritual strength and guidance in the face of life's difficulties and challenges, to discover what faith can mean for themselves and others, to sense the gladness which many find through God in Christ ... for whatever purpose people come, they find a welcome as part of the church's worship in The Abbey Centre. YOU WOULD ALWAYS BE WELCOME !

What is the worship like?

Sunday morning worship is for all ages, and part of the time is usually spent all together. Children especially should feel free and at home in the church. There is a Creche, plus groups called Kaleidoscope for younger people. The service includes a quiet time for knowing the peace of God and reflecting on the depths of God's love. The aim is to provide a balanced act of worship in which people of varied ages and dispositions, can offer their worship and receive God's word in Christ. There is a quieter, more devotional service in the Chapel at 6 o'clock on Sunday evenings.

What sort of church is it?

The name of the church is "Abbey Centre Baptist Church". It is a member of The Baptist Union. Those who become members of the church are asked to remember the work of the wider Baptist family in their prayers and their giving. Worship may include references to Baptist principles and witness, but people from all kinds of Christian traditions (and none!) quite happily share in Abbey Centre Baptist Church life and worship.

Abbey Centre Baptist Church is a "Free Church". Individuals are invited to respond to what God has to say to them in Jesus Christ in whatever way seems good to their own conscience. We are not bound by state or creed, nor limited by tradition or book. The life of our church is governed by church members meeting to discover what it means to be "The Body of Christ" here and now.
