The Church Community

Abbey Centre Baptist Church has a membership of around 80. We are a Christian community with an evangelical heritage but free-thinking and with an openness to other denominations and other faiths. We seek to be a welcoming and affirming congregation.  Not all our members are physically active but we are all still young at heart.

The congregation on a Sunday morning usually numbers anything between 30 and 60. In the evening we usually have a small bible study group of about 5 or 6 who meet in a member’s home. Communion is celebrated each Sunday morning and our services are largely informal but traditional in structure and open to change. The first Sunday in the month is supported by our Praise Team to encourage the singing. The hymn books we mostly use are Baptist Praise & Worship and the Catholic Supplement, and multi-media is used within most of our services.

If you wish to join us you are welcome, whether or not you have a church background. It doesn’t matter where you come from, or whether you are young or old, male or female, straight or gay, black or white, you will find that you are always welcome to take part in our church’s worship services and  other activities. It would be a pleasure to have you become a part of our local community here at the Abbey Centre.
